Amitabh Bachchan is still considered as an actor who can carry a film on his own. A film featuring Amitabh can be sold easily, or is it so?

The latest Amitabh Bachhan film "Bhootnath" lacks the charm and no where seen as fulfilling the promise of being different. This is the Amitabha Bachhan and Aman Siddiqui film, and both the actors have done justice to their roles, yet film is lacking on the ground of script, music and performances.

Bhoothnath starts off as a perfect entertainer for kids. Banku (Aman) has just shifted with his parents (Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla) to this huge house in Goa. But the house is haunted by an angry ghost (Bhoothnath) whose sole aim in life is to rid the house of its inhabitants. And the ghost can be vengeful.

Banku’s charm and innocence make an impact on the ghost and soon they develop a rapport and the two of them create a magical world of their own.

Aman insists he has a special friend who is not visible to anybody else. But his mother does not believe him. Then suddenly one day Juhi Chawla realises her son is telling the truth. So Bhootnath is forced to appear in a human 'avatar' in front of Juhi too.

It is very difficult to judge this film as it is very difficult to say is it Kids film or full fledged Masala film.

Bhootnath works on following grounds: superb performance by Amitabh and Aman, nice visual and a good concept. But fails on the following grounds: bad performance by Juhi, sloppy music, too much emotion and dragging story. Rajpal Yadav and Shahrukh Khan are wasted in this film. Shahrukh in his 20 minutes appearance performs well. But his role is too short to do justice to the film.

As this is the vacation session, Bhootnath is expected to do good business in early days, but the fate of the movie will surly depend upon the word of mouth publicity. Unfortunately there may be very few takers.
