According to news the role of Ratna Pathak Shah who is plyaing Imran Khan's mother's role in his debut film is inspired from actor's real mother Nuzhat.

Ratna's character as well hairstyle, dressing sense and walk is completely based on Nuzhat.

Director of the film Abbas Tyrewala strongly felt that Ratna should look like Imran's real mother as he was moved by the bond Imran has with his mother.

It is learnt that Nuzhat often visited the sets of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na so that Ratna’s character is as similar to her as possible.
