Cheers! New domain names are coming in
if everything goes well, we shall soon be using domain name like .love, .hate, .paris, .bank etc.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which opened its annual general meeting on Monday in Paris, was due to vote on the new names this week.
“From early 2009, apart from the current .com, .net or .org, the 1.3 billion Web users will be able to acquire generic addresses by lodging common words such as .love, .hate or .city – or even proper names,” ICANN president Paul Twomey said.
The Paris meeting has gathered more than 1,300 delegates from 130 countries.
So, from next week we may see something like mygal.love
