It is good news for those who frequently forget their passwords, or struggle to remember their passwords. Now new software has been developed by the researchers of Newcastle University, which uses pictures instead of letters and characters for security codes. These technologies can be used in PDA, Palmtops and new generation gadgets like iPhone.

Dr Jeff Yan said, “These days we have passwords and pins to remember in so many aspects of our lives. And they are all coming under increasing threat from ever-more sophisticated thieves. Studies have shown that people find it easier to remember images that words.”

The graphical passwords are drawn over a background, such as a photo of a playing card. The Computer remembers the numbers of pen strokes used, where the image was started and the order in which they were made.

These passwords are not only easy to remember, but also protect users form cyber frauds.
