India cinema is all about feel good factors. You sit on a comfortable sofa, feel the chilling air circulated by air conditioner and enjoy the feel good movie, showing on the canvas in front of you.
Jaane Tu.. Ya Jaane Na is not a promising movie but it has a feel good factor. And that is because it works. The viewers leave theatre with a smile on their face and that is the USP.
Jaane Tu.. Ya Jaane Na is a love story (Yes once again… and again… and…). It is all about the bonding of college goers groups, who play, fight, make jokes and fall in love.
Jai [Imran Khan] and Aditi [Genelia] are members of one of these kinds of groups. They hang out with their group of friends, but have eyes for each other only. Everyone knows they love each other but alas the duo don’t know about it!
But in the end they realize it and there comes the happy ending. Oh yes, the famous airport scene is also there. Nothing new!
Jaane Tu.. works well in parts though. Abbas Tyrewala, as a director looks promising. The Music scores composed by A.R. Rehman are also melodious. There are few comic moments which make us laugh. There is Hum Paanch like sitcom too, as Imraan Khan’s reel mother Ratna Pathak Shah talks with her husband’s portrait.
Imran Khan as an actor looks good. He has natural talent and he proved it in this movie. He has long way to go. Genelia looks pretty in this film.
Apart from Imran Khan and Genelia the remaining cast of the group of friends Karan [as Rotlu], Alishka [as Bombs], Nirav [as Jiggy] and Sughanda [as Shaleen] have also performed well. Ratna Pathak Shah is highly competent. Jayant Kripalani and Anuradha Patel [as Genelia's parents] are sweet. Ayaz Khan [as Genelia's fiancé] registers a strong impact. And don’t forget to see Nasiruddin Shah in a very unconventional role.
Plus points:
- No melodrama
- Simple story
- Good performances
- Good music
Minus Points:
- The length
- Boring Second Half
- No new storyline
Initially I wanted to give 2 but keeping a note of young generation I shall give a 3.
