Winning Olympic Gold would be the greatest dream of every athlete. But Olympic Games medalist don't always live happily ever after. Here is the list of some of tragic moments athletes faced in past.
- Jesse Owens won four gold medal in 1936 Berlin Olympic. But when he returned home, no one recognised him. He was not called upon by president to visit White House. He was forced to run against horses and he was working as a petrol pump attendant. He was ignored because he was not white!
- Kazakhstan boxer Bekzater Sattarkhanov won gold medal in Sydney Olympic. Just after a month he died in a car crash.
- Lutz Long won silver medal in Long jump at the Berlin Olympic. He died during the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943.
- Jack Lovelock won gold medal in 1936 Olympic games. He died when he fell onto the track and into the path of an incoming train in UK.
- Gold medal winning wrestler Shah Reza Pahlavi was suspected to have been killed by Iranian secret police SAVAK.
