It is termed as a ugly face of dragon country. Chinese Olympic authority replaced the original singer of opening ceremony, a 10 year old girl Yang Peiyi with a cute 9 year old Lin Miaoke. Reason? A politburo member felt Yang is not beautiful enough to present.
Lin Miaoke won millions of hearts when she was shown singing the opening ceremony. But it was a pre recording of another child, Yang Peiyi who was dropped from the opening ceremony at the last minute in the “national interest”.
Beijing 2008 spoke person said: The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feelings and expression. Lin Miaoke is excellent in those aspects, but in the aspect of voice, Yang Peiyi is flawless, in our team’s view.
Now, several groups of people are criticizing China’s move. It is a matter of self respect and child harassment.
