Australian biotechnologists have found a new technology to utilize cellulose in unused sugarcane plant material to produce water-proof papers and industrial cardboards.
This paper is fully recyclable and could reduce pollution level of the world.

Today, manufacturers coat cardboard with a petroleum-based wax which renders the packaging non-recyclable or petroleum-based plastics. But with this new technology, use of petro by-products would be reduced.

Principal researchers and biotechnologists Doherty, quoted saying, “Our work is revealing how we may actually use more of the entire sugarcane plant, millions of tonnes of unused plant matter or biomass, for future manufacturing and energy production of which water-proof cardboard might provide just one very promising commercial option.”
