According to news published in The Telegraph a Church in London is planning to open a Bar to woo it's worshipers. The Birmingham Cathdral will shortly open a wine bar in the city to attract worshipers. The church has already roped in Mark Hope Urwin, former executive with John Lewis departmental store as the director of it's bar. Mark Urwin quoted saying, "We're not trying to encourage drinking, but the catedral has to engage more with the city and find ways of meeting people on their territory. Catedral wine bars should be seen as a potential commercial operation with profits going into the upkeep of the building and paying for evangelistic work." It would raise the catedral's profile around the city, and would represent a significant departure from current practice which is limited to bookshops and cafes.
