This could be a third consecutive super hit week of
Bollywood. First there was Phoonk that rocked the box office, then Rock
on and now A Wednesday!
Surprised! No I am not comparing A Wednesday with a high profile movies like Phoonk and Rock On, but the this film is as brilliantly crafted as the previous two.
A Wednesday, is based on Terrorism, the same old story, but the execution is fantastic and has appeal for the mass.
Story:
There is a Common Man [Naseeruddin Shah] who calls Police Commissioner of Mumbai Rathod [Anupam Kher] and demands release of four militants in lieu of information on bombs that he has planted in various parts of Mumbai.
AT first, Rahod did not care much about the call, but eventually he realized that how serious the “Common Man” is! Later, He gets a team of his best men, including a hacker, together and taps all his resources. Then, slowly film reaches to the climax with many unexpected turns and twists.
Pick Points:
A WEDNESDAY, is short and well executed film. There are no songs and no nonsense. The film works because of its gripping plotline and exceptional performances. Two heavyweight actors Naseer and Anupam Kher rock the silver screen. Not to forget, Jimmy Sheirgill and Aamir Bashir as Mumbai Cops are brilliant too.
Weak Points:
I couldn’t find any major flaw.
Finally:
A must watch movie. Hat’s off to director Neeraj Pandey.
