It is a Dog shaped robot built to help troops move with heavy loads. BigDog is a robotic dog developed by engineering company Boston Dynamics. The robot now becomes a YouTube star as the video footage showcasing a demonstrate of this dog has been viewed over 6 million times on this site.
The robot is the size of a large dog and is powered by a gasoline engine that drives its hydraulic system. It can run at the speed of 6 kmph.
It can climp slopes up to 35 degree steep and walk across rubble. It can carry 150 k.g. payload.
Current models of BigDog are remote controlled from army bases by commanders.
The research is on to develop new sophisticated versions of this machine.
