Here are the five simplest ways to be happy in daily life:
- Healthy diet
Body's sleep patterns, appetite and mood play a vital role. Our body produces serotonin from an amino acid (protein building block) called tryptophan. Eat tryptophan-rich food to naturally boost your serotonin levels. Tryptophan is found in foods such as chicken, fish, bananas, eggs, nuts, germ, avocados, cheese and the legumes (beans, peas, pulses, soya). Breads, cereals, potatoes and rice also have small amounts of serotonin. Also make an habit to eat at regular intervals. Long gaps between meals can dangerously lower your blood sugar level and increase craving for sweets.
- Drink Tea or Coffee, but in limit
Beverages like Tea or Coffee increases mental alertness. It is good to have a cup of Tea or Coffee when you feel stressed. However, too much caffeine can actually make you feel jittery, irritable and nervous since it over stimulates the nervous system. So stick to two to three medium sized cups a day.
- Encourage yourself
Make a note of your strong points and dwell on them for a few minutes when you're in a foul mood. Encourage yourself. Make a habit to pat your back whenever you do something good.
- Find a free time for yourself and your bellowed one
At a fix time make a habit to switch off that cell-phone and sit still, doing absolutely nothing. Only when it's really quiet can you hear your inner voice, which brings immense joy. Also, it is very important to devote some free time for those you love. If you want to be truly happy, make time for an activity that you can enjoy with your loved one.
- Think positive
No matter how tough your day is, just repeat few simple words such as, 'Eventually, things always work-out.' Create new affirmations each day and see how this activity uplifts your mood!
